Inambari Packrafting From Juliaca near Puno we drive to Masiapo on the Inambari River and raft down 260km/161mi class 1 - 2 along the eastern slope of the Andes. We'll follow the National Park of Bajuaha Sonene's buffer zone with agricultural to pristene areas of subtropical to tropical non-touristic river. Expect a mild river, canyons, waterfalls and unique flora and fauna species adapted to climates between altiplano to high jungle.
Lake Valencia Bikerafting Just off the Trans-Amazonian Highway near Puerto Maldonado there is a locals only 28mi double track path which cuts through jungle and ends at a giant oxbow lake teeming with hungry piranhas. Whether we float down the Madre de Dios River to this lake and return by biking the trail or by taking the biking route roundtrip is up to you. One is muddier than the other. Welcome to jungle bikerafting.
Ocobamba to Kiteni Bikerafting From the Panticalla Pass above Ollantaytambo at 4437m/14558ft we descend through the subtropical high jungle of the Ocobamba Valley then reach and follow the Yantile River until it meets the Urubamba at 743m/2438ft where we raft 42mi to the lower jungle town of Kiteni at 588m/1930ft. Our descent will take us through agricultural country from highland to low jungle and a difference of 3857m/12658ft!
Altiplano Packrafting - Puno We start near at Lagunillas at 4176m/13701ft between Arequipa and Puno, a large lake home to high altitude flamingos. We'll camp on a lake island, raft class 2-3 river towards Juliaca, explore a ghost town, paddle to the ruins and burial towers of Sillustani and finish with a 14 mile paddle / sail on lake Titicaca through the floating islands of Uros to Puno's port.
Lower Apurimac Packrafting From Ayacucho we drive over 2 mountain ranges to the Apurimac river then raft 34 miles to Kimbiri to see the ruins of Lobo Tayhuantaysuyo. From there we will float class 2+ for another 238 miles through plantations and farming communities then through Otishi National Park stopping at native communities, waterfalls and creeks until we reach Atalaya where the Urubamba joins the Apurimac to form the Ucayali.
Border to Pacific Packrafting We take a van from Piura northeast to Ayabaca to raft the Rio Calvas which becomes the Macará then the Chira. For 82mi we raft along the Peru / Ecuador border until we reach the Poechos reservoir at 90mi and where we portage around a dam then raft a canal and Chira River another 60mi to the Pacific. Then we drive north to Cabo Blanco to windpaddle (sail) 16.5 miles of coastine to El Nuro, Organos and Mancora.
3 Rivers Bikerafting From Laberinto and the Trans-Amazonian Highway we begin a 18km/12mi biking trip through jungle towards the south until we reach the Tambopata River where we raft over 96km/60mi through the Tambopata Reserve to Puerto Maldonado. Along the way we'll pass by numerous touristic lodges and we'll stop off at trails for biking trips to oxbow lakes for lake packrafting and hammock camping.
Ausangate to Mazuko Bikerafting From Lake Sabinacocha (Ausangate) at 5110m/16765ft we traverse high plains and valleys with descents and ascents through the "Bosque de Piedras" (Rock Forest) of Corani reaching the town of Macusani followed by Allincapac mountains and a dowhill through the cloud forest and subtropical mining and agricultural areas of Ituata and Bancomayo to the Inambari River for rafting to Mazuko at 337m/1107ft, a difference of 4773m/15658ft!
Amazon Creek Trek & Packrafting Between the Madre de Dios and Inambari rivers we begin a trek of 6 - 12mi into dense jungle canopy until our path turns into a navigable canal and a means for traversing another 15mi by packraft. We begin at first entering the dark shaded areas of inner forest with sparse patches of light until our canal widens reaching the Alto Madre de Dios river where we raft another 40 miles to the gold mining town of Laberinto.
Cloud Forest Canyoneering Experienced Canyoners Only. Begin at Tres Cruces at 4,200m/13780ft and descend using ropes to the Manu Road and further down to the Coñipata River then packraft to the town of Pilcopata (700m/2297ft) next to the Madre de Dios River. Canyon, hike, swim, portage and paddle through high jungle cloud forest, a unique environment which provides specific habitats for higher altitude mammal, bird and plant species.
Espiritu Pampa Trek & Packrafting We retrace the steps of Tupac Amaru during the "Incas Last Stand" which takes us from the ruins of Vitcos (Vilcabamba) on a 47 mi trek to the ruins of Espiritu Pampa where we begin a rafting journey of 120 mi on both the Chontabamba and Urubamba rivers to the native village of Camisea. This trip takes us from above the treeline (altiplano) at 4650m/15255ft to lower jungle at 351m/1152ft!
